Andrew Bowie was re-elected for the third time at the general election held on the 4th of July 2024. Andrew has represented the constituency of West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine since he was first elected in 2017. Andrew described be returned to Parliament as remaining “as great an honour today as it did in 2017”.
Following the counting of ballots Andrew was re-elected with an increased majority of 3,4341 with 35.6% of the vote.
Andrew noted that he recognised that many in the constituency had lent him their vote and that many did not vote for him. However, he pledged to “not let you down, [I] will serve each of you equally, however you voted or if you didn’t vote at all”.
He also paid tribute to his campaign team, expressing his gratitude for their “loyalty, determination, doggedness and good humour” during the campaign.
The results came after what he described as a “rough night” for his party. Andrew used the opportunity to say that “now is not the time to point fingers, lay blame. Now is the time for reflection and introspection to examine why it is that the British people handed down their verdict on us”.
Andrew also congratulated the Labour Party and the new Prime Minister on their victory, wishing them the best going forward whilst pledging to play his role as part of an effective opposition holding the Government to account.
Andrew will be joined in the House of Commons by newly elected Conservative MP for Gordon & Buchan, Harriet Cross.
