Andrew Bowie MP is to run in the world-renowned London Marathon at the end of April. Andrew Bowie, who represents West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, will join the 40,000-strong field to raise money for the MS Society. The charity funds world-leading research and campaigns for the rights of those living with MS.
Mr Bowie said: "I've been very lucky to get a ticket for the London Marathon and I'm determined to make it count for a cause that's close to my heart.
"It's been six years since my last crack at it and I've been enjoying training - trying to fit in some miles around a busy schedule as a dad and MP"
His last attempt at the marathon, in 2019, saw him finish with a time of 3hrs 40mins. Mr Bowie said: "I'd be delighted to finish in a semi-respectable time.
"But it's more important to support a really, really important charity that does incredible work supporting those people with MS across the United Kingdom."
