Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease; christened the ‘long goodbye’, it is one that is close to my heart and one that I know affects the lives of so many constituents here in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine. In October 2017, I ran the London Royal Parks Half Marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK, to raise money and awareness for the incredible work they are doing to help find a cure for this debilitating and heart rending disease.
This year, I’m hoping to go one better (or 13.1 miles better to be exact) by running the London Marathon for them. I haven’t trained nearly enough (it’s been a little busy in the office) and I have no goal other than completing it, but Alzheimer’s Research do such good work that when offered the opportunity to enter the race and raise money for them, I couldn’t refuse.
