Children’s Hospice Week (June 21st - 27th) is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospice and palliative care services across the UK, and the seriously ill children and young people they support.
This year for Children’s Hospice Week, Together for Short Lives are asking supporters to push themselves to the limits "so children’s hospices aren’t pushed to theirs."
Together for Short Lives is the UK charity that is here to make sure the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families can make the most of every moment they have together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours. Many of these children have complex conditions and need specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Right now, families with seriously ill children are pushed to their limits. Caring for a child with serious health needs can be exhausting – and often the challenges families face are little understood. At the same time, children’s hospices are being pushed to their limits too – with more and more children in need of their care.
Throughout the week, Together for Short Lives will be encouraging people across the UK to help raise vital funds and will be sharing ways you can get involved on their social media platforms @Facebook, @Instagram and @Twitter.
Speaking in support of the campaign Andrew said;
"There are almost 100,000 seriously ill children in the UK, many of them face extreme challenges due to their complex conditions and sadly, life expectancy is often short.
"Together for Short Lives do an incredible job of supporting the children and their families throughout the toughest of times.
"In addition they play an important role in raising awareness and understanding about childhood death.
"The funds raised by Together for Short Lives allow them to continue this important work, and support children's hospices right across the UK.
"Children's Hospice Week is the one week of the year dedicated to raising both awareness and funds so is vital to all who benefit from the services and support they provide."
