Andrew Bowie expressed his utmost delight as Aberdeenshire Council officially adopted Stuart Crescent, a road in Kemnay, within the Constituency. This milestone comes after years of relentless campaigning by Andrew on behalf of residents.
Andrew has written to the Council on numerous occasions regarding the issue, he has also written several times to Scottish Water and other stakeholders following issues with flooding. Andrew met with residents during a flood event a number of years ago and has pursued drainage issues and adoption of the road ever since.
Stuart Crescent has now met the standards set forth by the construction consent granted under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984. Under the act, Aberdeenshire Council is obligated to include roads meeting the necessary criteria in its Statutory List of Public Roads. With Stuart Crescent now meeting these requirements, the road has become a part of Aberdeenshire Council’s public road network.
Andrew said: “Delighted that Aberdeenshire Council have now formally adopted the road. A huge thank you to those who have got this through, including Local Councillors.
“The dedication of local residents in continuing to push for a positive outcome, following the flooding and other road related issues, is fantastic and a huge congratulations for their efforts.”
Local Councillor Sam Payne added: “There have been issues with the adoption of Stuart Crescent for a number of years, I am glad they have now been adopted and hope that this will help resolve long-standing drainage issues in the area.”
