Andrew Bowie MP has written a letter to the Stonehaven Co-op urging them to consider hosting a Post Office counter and service within their store in the town centre. The move comes following what Andrew believes is a growing need for a post office service in the area due to limited options elsewhere in the town.
Andrew believes that the location of other Post Office counters, and the limited opening hours, means an additional service is still required to meet customer demand.
He points out that the inclusion of a Post Office within the Co-op store in other towns such as Banchory has been a great success. Stating in his letter that:
“Not only does it provide a convenient service to the public that would otherwise be unavailable, but it also brings people into the store who may then spend money on other things. This is a win-win-win situation for the customers, the Post Office, and the Co-op.”
Andrew continues:
"I strongly believe that the addition of a Post Office counter in the Stonehaven Co-op store would be of great benefit to the local community and to the Co-op as a business," said the MP. "It would provide a convenient location for customers to carry out their postal needs, whilst also bringing in extra revenue for the Co-op."
He is urging the Stonehaven Co-op to consider the proposal and is willing to provide any additional information or support required to bring the idea to fruition.
